Corporate Kinks was designed for you by women like you. We provide resources to assist and address the unique experiences of professional black women, with an emphasis on natural hair care. We’ve created a place where professionals can find safe-for-work hair tips and inspiration, share their corporate stories and struggles, and learn about new products and accessories perfect for the modern-day corporate Wonder Woman.

How It All Started

Corporate Kinks was created by a civil litigation attorney who decided to do a big chop a year into her corporate legal gig, and quickly realized she was in over her head.  While there was no shortage of natural hair websites and blogs, there wasn’t a place dedicated to helping career-driven naturalistas with limited time and more stringent work dress codes.

Just as she started to master her natural tresses, our founder decided that the only reasonable thing to do was… to start a loc journey. Because why stop at the challenges of a TWA when you can also experience the trials and tribulations of starter locs? Navigating her corporate career as a black woman and seeing first-hand the added obstacles two natural hair journeys can add, she made it her mission to create a rich community of support, empowerment, and resources just for us.

Thankfully, we’ve come a long way in the recognition and validation of natural hair in professional spaces. More and more black women are proudly rocking their natural curls at the office. And that makes a space like Corporate Kinks more needed than ever. 

What You Can Expect from CK

What do you do with your TWA when you have a board meeting in an hour and you had no time to twist your hair the night before?  Can a headscarf be worn to work in a professional way?  What is the least annoying way to explain your protective style to your coworkers?  These are the types of questions Corporate Kinks tries to answer because these are the questions we’re faced with regularly in the workplace.

Going natural is full of challenges.  Our twists aren’t always dry when we take them out.  No matter how hard we stare at it, our hair never grows nearly as fast as we want it to.  Not to mention the emotional journey that no one fully prepares you for.
